History
I started to take interest in webdesigning some 5 years ago when I was still in high school. I had not the slightest idea of what it was but because it sounded so tantalizingly interesting I jumped into it without any second thinking. So, I made my first mini site on Freewebs (it only had two pages! lol). I couldn't remember what the site was called. I think it was Crystallife. After some time, I was discontent with the features that Freewebs had to offer that time I moved to Geocities. The site was called Berry-Slush. I stayed there for about a few months until I realised that editing the site through the Geocities' site-builder was such a pain. After that I left the webdesigning world for some time. Then in late 2006, I entered the webdesigning world again (briefly) because of my coursework where webdesigning was part of it.
Then in early 2007, I made a real comeback and I got hosted by Maia of Rurushu.net. My site was called Kitty's Voice, Grafix!. During the time I was hosted by rurushu.net, I learnt a lot more about graphic designing and I also made a lot of friends online. Unfortunately my real life got the best of me and I had not the time to dedicate on my site, plus the closing down of Rurushu.net really blew it all (though Maia arranged for all her hostees to move to her other domain). However, at the same time I also had a blog hosted by Blogger so I did not totally withdraw from the online world. Moreover I joined message boards to keep in touch with my friends.
Slightly over a year later (that was early this year), after long long hours, days and months of looking for a free domain, (haha!) I decided to make a comeback again when I saw the offer by So-Pink.org (free adoption of domains). I quickly sent an application along with the samples of my work/designs but as I thought, I did not qualify for the domain adoption so I settled with subdomain hosting. It was good enough since I never experienced any downtime (except during the transfer of provider period) plus my host, Olivia was very helpful. Yet, I did not feel content enough to just being hosted. I wanted the experience of owning a domain so that I could develop my skills in web designing/development. But I was not able to get a domain because I did not have the money to pay for it. Even if I had the money, I could not do any online purchasing (no credit cards!).
It was until a few weeks ago, someone introduced me to a local web hosting service that, not only is affordable, but the payment method is also convenient! After much pondering and reviewing, I decided to go for it. And so, Chibiholic.net is finally born. Why chibiholic, you may ask? Well, there's a little bit of funny story in it. I call my boyfriend Chibi so I combined Chibi and holic together to show that I am soooo addicted to him. Lol.
Anyway, you can see that my journey to get the domain is not easy nor straight-forward. It took me a lot of time and effort, not to mention the amount of disappointments along the way. Yet, in the end, the reward is sweet.
Thanks for reading this. ^^
